As defined by Wiki, "the term 3-D is used to describe any visual presentation system that attempts to maintain or recreated moving images of the third dimension, the illusion of depth as seen by the viewer". This is also known as stereoscopic imaging. Basically here we are trying to imitate our natural eyes by filming two images simultaneously, with two cameras positioned side by side, genrally facing eaching and filming at 90 degree agle via mirrors, in perfect synchronization and with identical technical characteristics. So, when viewed in such a way that each eye sees it's photographed counterpart, the viewer's visual cortex (the area of the human brain working for vision) will interpret the pair of images a single 3-D image. For filming animation movies one dosen't even need a twin camera assembly, everything is taken care by Computer Systems involved.
So, from the above explaination the only thing that comes to my mind is that, has nature provided enough time to explore and imitate it fully?? The quest continues.....
